The term "editing" refers to various types of text editing. I offer two types of editing; proofreading and copy editing.
Proofreading means checking a text for grammatical and typographical erros. Are all the commas and full stops where they ought to be? Is everything capitalised correctly? Did you use the correct "your/you're"? What about "it's/its"? All this (and more) falls within the scope of proofreading.
Copy editing is like proofreading, with the addition of analysing for consistency, style and accuracy. Is the text structured clearly? Is there any missing information? Could any adjustments improve the clarity? Is the language used in your text appropriate for your target audience and goals? Copy editing is meant to get the very best out of your text.
Which service you should opt for depends on how condifent you are in your own wordsmithing abilities. If you're unsure, copy editing is always the safest bet.
